Embassy of Pakistan Niamey celebrated Iqbal Day
To commemorate the birth anniversary of great poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal in a befitting manner, a special ceremony was organized at the Embassy of Pakistan Niamey.

H.E. Mr. Assoumana Mallam Issa, Minister of Culture and Art, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. Various Cultural Attaches’ of resident Missions, Director French Culture Center, Businessmen, Academics and students from various Nigerien universities attended the event.

Large number of print and electronic media representative also covered the proceedings. The event started with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran.

Welcoming the participants, Ambassador of Pakistan to Niger, Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey paid rich tributes to Allama Iqbal for his dream of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent, which become a reality with the creation of Pakistan.

He said that while celebrating the birth anniversary of the great poet and philosopher, it was important to study deeper about his philosophy of life, about individual responsibility and communal harmony.

Ambassador Sirohey particularly appreciated the Nigerien students who participated in the ceremony.
