A webinar on “Pakistan-Niger Relations: Opportunities for Pakistani investment in Niger” was organized by the Embassy of Pakistan Niger in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce & Industry Republic of Niger, which was attended by Nigerien Minister of Commerce & Industry, Secretary General Industry and Director Industry, Ambassador of Pakistan including businessmen and investors of Pakistan.
H.E. Mr. Gado Sabo Moctar, Minister of Commerce & Industry of Pakistan to Niger highlighted that Pakistan and Niger have been enjoying close brotherly and friendly relations since very long time. He spoke on the scope of existing bilateral trade ties, while H.E Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, Ambassador of Pakistan to Niger briefed on the possible areas of cooperation between the two countries. He also introduced Pakistani businessmen with Nigerien Minister of Commerce & Industry.
Pakistani Investors called upon the Minister to work diligently for promotion of trade and commercial relations between the two countries. They also informed the Minister that Pakistan is one of the leading exporters of rice to Niger. Other export items include garments, bed Lenin, sports goods, light machinery and pharmaceutical products.
After satisfactory questions/answer session Pakistani Businessmen Mr. Zafar Mehmood shown interest in establishing a tractor assembling plant in Niger. He promised to visit Niger within 2 weeks. Other Pakistani Businessmen Mr. Abbas Akbar Ali thanked the Ambassador for detailed briefing and linking them with host government. He desired to visit Niger to explore the business opportunity in Steel factory and irrigation system.
In addition, Mr. Akash Leemani shown interest in establishment of a textile factory and rice plant. At the end, Minister of Commerce thanked the Ambassador of Pakistan and assured to facilitate Pakistani businessmen community in Niger.
