Embassy of Pakistan Niger Celebrated Defence and Martyr Day of Pakistan
Embassy of Islamic Republic of Niger celebrated 56th Defense and Martyrs Day with traditional zeal and zest. Embassy organized reception program where around 200 guest participated the ceremony.

Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentarians, Civil and Defense officers, Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Defence Advisers, Civil Society Activists, Academia, Business Community, Media members and Pakistani community members living in Niamey attended the event.

The ceremony started with the recitation of Quran followed by national anthem of both countries. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read to the audience. H.E. Mr. Gado Sabo Moctar, Minister of Commerce & Industry was the guest of honor.

The Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey in his speech gave background of 1965 war and role of Armed Forces. The preparedness of Pakistan for any eventuality. He said the major reason was and remains is Kashmir issue. Indian occupation and brutalities are going on even deceased leader Syed Ali Geelani was denied public burial.

The international community must play its role to resolve this longstanding issue that caused enmity between Pakistan and India. It has deprived people of South Asia in many fields. The arm race and militarization has caused in the region. People of Pakistan stood with the Armed Forces and foiled the attempt of enemy.

The Guests appreciated the Embassy for hosting the Reception, efforts to promote awareness on Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and contributions to global peace and security especially through sustained and highest participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKOs) as well continued commitment to further bilateral friendship and cooperation. While looking at the facts about Pakistan and worth visiting places, the ministers desired that they would like to visit Pakistan at the first available opportunity. The business community showed readiness and keenness to explore Pakistan. The Ambassador thanked everyone and invited for a sumptuous Pakistani dinner.
