Ramiz Raja likely to be elected unopposed as new PCB chairman today


ISLAMABAD: The election for the new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be held in Lahore today.

The PCB’s Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed will conduct the election and preside over the special meeting to elect the 36th PCB Chairman.

Sources privy to the matter said that former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja, who was nominated by PCB’s patron-in-chief Imran Khan in the BoG, is likely to be elected unopposed today.

Aasim Wajid Jawad, Alia Zafar, Asad Ali Khan, Arif Saeed, Javed Kurieshi, Ramiz Raja and Wasim Khan are members of the BoG and will attend the special meeting to elect the new PCB chairman.

Following the election, the newly-elected PCB chairman will address a press conference at the Bob Woolmer Indoor School at 2:15 pm.

As per the PCB COVID-19 Protocols, which are designed to ensure health and wellbeing of all involved, only reporters and correspondents who are fully vaccinated and have immunisation certificates are invited to attend the media conference. 

Ramiz Raja advises cricketers to focus on cricket 

Earlier on September 7, Ramiz Raja met the cricketers and advised them to don’t pay attention to the changes in the PCB and focus on their cricket.

During a meeting held at the National High-Performance Center in Lahore, Raja told the players about his vision and roadmap.

Interim coaches Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq were also present in the meeting.
